Placard Power was commissioned by Greenwich and Docklands International Festival to engage local people in Thamesmead with the themes of The Weight of Water, a performance by Panama Pictures. Over 4 workshops, local people made designs for placards to celebrate nature and express their climate-related demands.
They wrote text, drew pictures and painted their boards. I scanned in their text and drawings, increased the size, printed them on the risograph printer at TACO! Print Studio and then with the help of two assistants, cut out and pasted the images and text onto their painted boards and varnished them to make them weather-resistant.
