Positioning architecture as a situated, embodied experience, we considered the gendering of space and desire, the particular architectural qualities that enable glass to act as a barrier between inside and outside and the ways in which we locate ourselves in opposition to one another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">Developed for <em>How Near is Here?<\/em> a collective enquiry centred on locality \u2013 a complex term that may refer to geographical surroundings, the people occupying an area, or the buildings and spaces that define it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">The programme brought together artists, arts organisations and academics working across the field of art and\/in \u2018the urban\u2019, examining why locality is a contested and widespread concern now. The five-day workshop <em>&#8220;evokes performance as a means of artistic expression through a series of planned exercises. Through this an attempt will be made to break-out of what we understand as the \u2018normal\u2019 workings of the\u00a0 body, its automatic responses, and coded behavioral patterns. We hope to unpack ourselves, peal through the various masks we wear, with an attempt to bring us to our core.
