I learned how to screen print under the guidance of Hannah Tilson and Otis Blease in Summer 2026. I wanted to see how experimenting with screen printing could inform, challenge (and maybe even supersede!) my risograph practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I got into risograph printing at London Centre for Book Arts after going there to learn paper marbling. At that time I was mostly working in narrative-based performance about sexual politics alongside facilitating sex education workshops in museums and really wanted to inject my dry words with a process that was wet, messy and hands-on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I now feel the same about risograph printing – it\u2019s given me the ability to think in layers and to produce en masse but I\u2019m yearning for a process that is wet, messy and hands-on again. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I began making zines and prints by drawing and collaging onto paper but I\u2019ve recently been using more and more digital means. I want to \u201cregress\u201d and get back to the visceral flicks, smears and splodges of actual marks on actual surfaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I wasn\u2019t looking for any concrete end-result, more of a new way to understand who I am as a printmaker. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ve decided that I’m the kind of printmaker who makes experimental abstract monoprints. These monoprints are fragments that fit into series through a shared palette of colours and imagery…. hmmmmmm even the language is new to me and definitely still a work in progress!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
