Bronzin' (Totally Bronze) from Chloe Cooper on Vimeo.

Using the cast bronze hand she found in a box of educational resources at Tate Britain to 'corral, contradict and cooperate' with the hands of bronze sculptures on display, Bronzin' emerges from an investigation into ideas of value and objecthood in the gallery. Gallery education is situated as a potentially transformative practice, encouraging her own hand to aspire to the conceptual and aesthetic ambitions of the hands of sculptures on display. The highly subjective interpretation of artworks throughout the film plays with expectations of the role of the artist working in gallery education - as interpreter, facilitator, expert, learner, teacher and performer in shaping and framing our experience of objects.
